The conductive part of these disconnect switches is securely anchored to the base through two pillar insulators for each phase (GN19-12C/400, 630, 1000, 1250 types feature one pillar insulator and one porcelain casing insulator). The three phases are installed in parallel, and the conductive part comprises static contacts of contact knives and contact holders (or conductive rods). Each phase's contact knife is linked to the middle of the tie insulator, which is installed on the base of the spindle. The spindle is connected to the connecting rod (provided by the user) and the CS6-1 type moving mechanism through the handle.

The connecting contact knife is ingeniously crafted from two slotted copper plates, enhancing both heat dissipation and mechanical strength. This design not only increases the heat dissipation area of the contact knife, lowering the bottom temperature but also improves the mechanical strength, enhancing the dynamic stability of the switch. One end of the contact knife is affixed to the contact block (or on the conductive rod) using a bolt (car of Shaw). For GN19-12/1000, 1250, a magnetic locking plate is incorporated into the contact area, enhancing the attraction between the two groove contact knives during a large short-circuit current. GN19-12/400, 630 disconnect switches have a small limit through current, eliminating the need for a magnetic locking plate.
